TMC has always prioritized a culture of rest among our team, from flexible work hours to our twice yearly programming breaks. We believe that rest is good, necessary, and an act of resistance in societies where people’s worth is often measured by how much they produce.

In the past several months, we’ve put some additional policies in place that will ensure our staff and volunteers have the opportunity to practice rest. Starting this year, all of our staff have access to flexible PTO in addition to two weeks paid vacation time, as well as unlimited sick time.

We will also be closed for all 12 federal United States holidays. Although we actively reject the colonial and/or US-centric framework and history of many of these holidays, the fact that all of our staff members are currently located in the US means that they often offer the opportunity for connection with loved ones who also have these days off. This policy is fully flexible and open to change based on the future needs of staff within their specific cultural and/or geographical contexts.

We will also be offering staff an extra day off for both Trans Day of Visibility and Trans Day of Remembrance, recognizing the importance of rest in both celebration and grief.

We’re so grateful that our community has embraced programming rhythms that support our culture of rest – thank you for being part of this revolutionary practice!
