Fostering movement, care, and connection for trans people and their communities.
For trans individuals navigating complex challenges, TMC’s Mutual Aid Program (MAP) offers hope through structured, informed, and faith-driven mutual aid. This program strengthens the bonds within the TMC community and serves as a beacon for faith communities and allies eager to step into active support roles, building a network to address urgent and ongoing needs.
How to Get Involved with MAP
Please note: distributions through TMC’s Mutual Aid Fund are currently paused. We are working to secure more funding and hope to resume distribution as soon as possible!
If you’re looking to offer support, or would like to become connected to MAP as a partner organization offering resources, please reach out to Micah Melody Taberner at micahmelody@transmissionministry.com.
How Resources Are Distributed Through MAP
The MAP understands that true support is relational. While some resources may not directly resolve every challenge, they are designed to help individuals find a path toward stability and thriving. Our approach to resource distribution reflects this commitment:
- Relational Support: Many of our resources connect individuals with people and services that provide guidance, encouragement, resources, and next steps for long-term stability.
- Mutual Aid Committee: This team of 4 to 7 volunteers brings expertise from legal, educational, and spiritual fields to serve TMC with compassion and diligence. With term limits and oversight from the TMC Board of Directors, the committee collaborates to review cases and strategize about how to best offer support.
- Direct Financial Assistance: When appropriate, we offer practical financial support through methods such as payments directly to service providers, gift cards, or Zelle transfers. However, our financial resources are finite, and we strive to assist with the most critical needs. To ensure fairness and sustainability, we limit the number of requests an individual can make. Exceptions to this policy are reviewed by our committee to address extraordinary circumstances with care and integrity.
Every step of our process is guided by compassion and the belief that together, we can build a foundation for flourishing lives.
