What are Sessions like?
Spots are full for the January Partners of Trans People Sessions. If you would like to be notified about our next round of sessions, please fill in the interest form at the bottom of the page.
Are you a partner, spouse, or significant other of a trans or gender expansive person? Are you processing through what your partner’s transition means for your relationship? You’re invited to this 4-week journey alongside other partners with similar questions! These sessions will be led by Katie Chiaramonte and Hana Taberner, two partners of trans people themselves.
We’ll be holding space for questions like
“How does my spouse’s disclosure change my/our future, and our family’s future?”
“Is it ok to grieve? How am I giving myself permission to feel in this process?”
- “What effect will my partner’s transition have on my closest relationships?”
“How does this impact my own gender/sexual/spiritual identity?”
“How do I find safe spaces to process and receive support?”
Winter 2023 Session Dates
Session 1 – Wed, January 11th – 5pm PT/8pm ET
- Session 2 – Wed, January 18th – 5pm PT/8pm ET
Session 3 – Wed, January 25th – 5pm PT/8pm ET
Session 4 – Wed, February 1st – 5pm PT/8pm ET
Because of the cohort nature of this group, we ask participants to commit to attending all sessions.
Whether you are cisgender or transgender yourself, this space is for anyone who is processing through their partner’s transition. We’ll be moving together as a cohort, so you’ll be seeing the same faces each time, and coming out of the experience with new friends and a supportive community!
A few things to know before signing up
Our Partners of Trans People Sessions have no specific gender identity requirements—if you are a partner or spouse of a trans or gender-expansive person, you’re invited! If you are the transitioning partner in a relationship, please check out our other support groups.
Our groups are only open to people age 18 and up. It’s not that we don’t want you with us, teens! It’s just that there are much better groups for you over at Beloved Arise, at Affirming Youth Ministries, and at Gender Spectrum. Head on over there and check out the faith programming available!
Our groups are not a therapy substitute. TMC group leaders are not acting in a mental health professional capacity, and the purpose of this group is to build community and provide a space for sharing and support.
By filling out this form you are agreeing to abide by our TMC Community Rules, which you can find and read here. If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to email Micah Melody, TMC’s Program Coordinator, at micahmelody@transmissionministry.com.
If you would like to be notified about our next round of sessions, please fill out this interest form and you will receive an email when signups open.
Confidentiality Notice: TMC Groups are semi-confidential. This means we will not share anything said during groups with the broader TMC community, or with anyone outside TMC, without your permission. However, TMC leaders may share important information with others in leadership in order to best support our community. TMC does not participate in non-consensual active rescue, which means we will not call emergency services unless someone directly asks us to, or we believe there is a credible threat to a third party.
